What an insane night! This is one of those weird ideas I had early on that turned into a very cool tradition. Does anyone still smell like whipped cream?

StOP Kick Off Night

Our Student Orchestra and Praise group had an awesome kick off last night. This is a group of students who want to use their musical talents to serve God. If you are a student with musical talent, you need to check this out on Tuesday nights from 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Past Summer Mission Trips

In case you were wondering what you would be doing on your mission trips next summer, I wanted to show you a bit of what we have done in the past at Manassas, VA.

Summer 2008
- St Petersburg - Middle School - June 22 - 27th
- Nashville - Senior High - July 25 - August 3
- Dominican Republic - Senior High with a Parent - July 14 - 22

STRIVE is Almost Here!

It is a big time of year as we get things rolling in the Student Ministry. It is hard to believe we are getting ready for mission trips next summer, but it's true. We make sure you have as much time as possible to raise the funds for your trip.

STRIVE is simple. You are raising funds by getting sponsors for an 8 hour environmental clean up day at Simmons Park. Each person sponsors you for each hour of work. The best way to get sponsors is to write a letter to the people on your family Christmas Card list. People love to hear that a teenager is working to do good things for other people. Tell them about your trip next summer (and the past ones as well if you've been before) and about the work at Simmons Park. Then ask for them to sponsor you for each hour of the work day.

The math of STRIVE is crazy. If you can get sponsored for $4 per hour by 10 people, you are making $40 per hour for your community service. That's a $320 day. That is more than half of the Senior High trip to Nashville. 10 Sponsors at less than minimum wage.

You can do this. Get started getting sponsors, the work day is rapidly approaching - October 13th. It will be an awesome day and we will be making a difference in our own community to raise the funds to make a difference in the lives of others next summer.

Nigth of Joy & Sunday A.M.

Yes it's almost here.  If you bought a ticket for Night of Joy meet this Saturday at the B&G at 9am.  Pack a small overnight bag,  bring your suit (pack it separate so you can swim while we wait to check in) (girls,  one piece only please!)  We'll be back Sunday around 3 pm.  Bring money for Saturday lunch,  dinner & snacks,  and brunch on Sunday!

 

Yes, there is still Sunday a.m. programming for those not going to Night of Joy.  So show up at the 9:30 service and take notes! Then go to Core Teams at 11:00.  You can tell us what we missed and we'll share with you!

We had an awesome night at the Underground on Sunday. Next week we will be away for Night of Joy. After that we have the much awaited Whipped Cream Night!
